The most important person I've met is an Italian philosophy professor who teaches at the University of Pisa. Although the last time I saw him was eight years ago, I did not forget his special qualities. First of all, I was deeply impressed by his devotion to teaching because he always prepared his lectures well and knew that the students were swarming into his classroom.
His followers appreciated what he believed he taught, and he was intellectually enlightening. In addition, he can explain his ideas in an imaginative way, introduce tools to help understand, such as paintings, recordings, sculptures, and guest lecturers. Once he even sang a song in class to illustrate a point.
Second, I admire him for talking to students outside the classroom or talking to them on the phone. Having coffee in the snack bar, he makes friends with students easily. Sometimes he would challenge a student to play a game of chess.
Sometimes, he would take part in group discussions from astronomy to scuba diving. Many young people came to his office for academic advice. Others would come to his home for social parties.
Finally, I was attracted by his lively wit. He believes that any class session is successful unless students and professors share a few laughs and at least one laugh. Through his sense of humor, he makes learning more enjoyable and lasting.
If life can make the wise smile and the fool cry, then my friend is the real wise man. Perhaps the best example of his wisdom is the little bit of wisdom he used at the end of a speech.
