　　Last Sunday my classmate, Lin Hao and I went to a bookstore. At a counter we noticed that a foreigner was asking a clerk for help, but the clerk didn't understand what the foreigner said. So we went up to him and offered help. After knowing what he really wanted, we took him to the counter where tapes and discs of Chinese folk music are sold and gave him some advice on what to choose. With our help, the foreign guest got some music tapes. He gave his hearty thanks to us and left. Though it took us some time to help him, we were happy anyway.

　　Since last summer, I have written to my pen pal, Seda, who lives in Turkey. I became acquainted with her when I went to England for a study tour. We stayed with the same family, and she was my roommate and classmate as well. Sometimes we went to the movies together after dinner. Seda is very easy to get along with. I will always remember the two weeks I spent with her. We didn't forget each other and kept writing to each other after we returned home. Although I haven't seen her again since I left England, I still know how she is through letters, cards and photographs. Seda tells me her secrets and also shares her happiness and sadness with me . Both of us hope that we will meet each other somewhere one day. Maybe I'll go to Turkey to visit her, or she'll come to Taiwan to visit me.

　　i had a chance to visit wu-lai waterfall last sunday. we, a group of five,took the bus to the entrance of the mountain and walked about three miles to the top of the mountain. we were excited when we saw the waterfall across the river hank. the spray of the waterfall is very attractive. and surprisingly, we saw a beautiful rainbow above the waterfall. the combination of the drops of the waterfall and the rainbow made a beautiful picture.

　　on our way home, we stopped by an aboriginal house to watch their dance and singing. we really enjoyed our trip.

In the Roman Catholic calendar, Christmas is one of 6 holy feast days celebrated in America, the others being: Circumcision (New Year's Day), Ascension, Assumption (Mary's Assumption into heaven, August 15), All Saints (November 2), and the Immaculate Conception (December 8).

　　Most American are happy to talk about their homes. And if theyve done anything special in their home, theyll let you know what it was, and maybe tell you what it cost to put in the Jacuzzi, deck or patio, etc. Most Americans live in cities, but nearly as many live in suburbs. Suburban American has shopping centers called malls and residents usually need a care to get around. Most of the houses in the suburbs are one or two stories tall, with private yards and gardens and garage. There are few tall buildings in the suburbs. Cities have neighborhoods, warehouse stores, and public transportation is usually pretty good. Private houses might only have a back yard, and if there is a garage it probably is small. Cities have a lot of apartment buildings and some tall buildings may seem to scrape the sky , so they are called skyscraper .
