　　As we all know, smoking is harmful to our health. But it's even more harmful to middle school students for it does great harm not only to their health but also to their mind.

　　Middle school students are future builders of the country. They should spend their time learning what is useful. So it's really time that these young smokers made up their minds to give up smoking.

　　以前上課的時(shí)候，我總是會(huì)發(fā)生一些想不到的事情，在老師的眼里，我一直都是一位好學(xué)生，無論是學(xué)習(xí)上還是做人上都令老師嘖嘖稱贊，但是那一次在老師的眼中，我卻不再是一個(gè)好學(xué)生……

　　那是一個(gè)炎熱的下午，下午本身就是犯困的時(shí)候，恰巧碰上第1節(jié)課是英語課，說實(shí)話，我本身對(duì)英語課沒有什么厭煩的，只是由于天氣的原因，那節(jié)課我格外的困，坐在凳子上背直不起來，眼睛也睜不開，上眼皮跟下眼皮一直在打架，最終上眼皮打敗了下眼皮，我“成功”的睡著了。

　　等我睡著以后，隱隱約約的還能聽到英語老師在上面講著課程，但是自己的思想早已進(jìn)入了夢(mèng)鄉(xiāng)，突然，感覺自己的手臂被碰了一下，自己一下子從夢(mèng)中驚醒，同桌把我叫醒，他對(duì)我說“快醒醒，老師叫你回答問題”，我一下子就彈了起來，兩只眼睛直勾勾的盯著老師，老師看了我一眼，繼續(xù)對(duì)我說道“快回答！”所有的同學(xué)都看著我，可是我就想是從其他星球來的，渾然不知道老師在提問什么問題，這下子可壞了，因?yàn)槲铱墒前嗉?jí)里的英語課代表，竟然不知道老師提問的什么問題，自己站在那里支支吾吾的，沒有說出一句話。老師臉上的`笑容逐漸消失了，之后老師沒有搭理我，繼續(xù)提問了其他同學(xué)，而我只能在那里默默的站著，我知道這是老師在懲罰我，我一個(gè)人低著頭，這時(shí)候也精神了許多，再也沒有了困意。下課以后老師找我談話，因?yàn)槲沂且幻n代表，應(yīng)該是這節(jié)課的積極分子，我的行為令老師覺得不合適，也很生氣，我給老師做了保證，保證以后再也不會(huì)這樣了，而且給老師寫下了保證書。

　　這節(jié)英語課是我在所有英語課當(dāng)中最難忘的一節(jié)課，從今以后我再也不會(huì)上課睡覺了，再也不會(huì)辜負(fù)老師對(duì)我的期望。

Waste gases poison the air we breathe. The rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. 　　Some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. But I do not think that this argument is valid. After all, what is the point of economic growth if people's lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution ?
