Qing Ming is popularly associated with Jie Zi Zhui, who lived in Shanxi province in 600 B.C. Legend has it that Jie saved his starving lords life by serving a piece of his own leg. When the lord succeeded in becoming the ruler of a small principality, he invited his faithful follower to join him. However, Jie declined his invitation, preferring to lead a hermits life with his mother in the mountains.
Believing that he could force Jie out by burning the mountain, the lord ordered his men to set the forest on fire. To his consternation, Jie chose to remain where he was and was burnt to death. To commemorate Jie, the lord ordered all fires in every home to be put out on the anniversary of Jies death.
Thus began the "cold food feast", a day when no food could be cooked since no fire could be lit.
The "cold food" festival occurs on the eve of Qing Ming and is often considered as part of the Qing Ming festival. As time passes, the Qing Ming festival replaced the "cold food" festival. Whatever practice is observed，the basic observation of Qing Ming is to remember ones elders by making a special effort to visit their graves, ashes or ancestral tablets.
To make the visit even more meaningful, some time should be spent to remind the younger members of the family of the lives and contributions of their ancestors, and the story of Jie Zi Zhui who choose death over capitulation.

其實(shí)，清明除了“燒紙，燒錢”，還有很多事可以做，這一天除了緬懷過去，更多的是繼新年后又一難得的相聚，珍惜現(xiàn)在，團(tuán)聚在一起，踏青，郊游在這個(gè)春光明媚的日子里，敘舊，都是不錯(cuò)的選擇。
清明節(jié)，除了不忘根，也要好好待尚在的親朋好友們，這也是這個(gè)古老的節(jié)日久盛不衰的原因所在，裊裊青煙中，是對(duì)祖先的懷念，更是對(duì)身邊的人的濃愛，珍惜身邊的愛。

剛剛過完整蠱搞怪的愚人節(jié)，我們又迎來了肅穆的清明節(jié)。清明既是一個(gè)節(jié)氣，也是一個(gè)節(jié)日。通常在每年的4月4號(hào)或者 5號(hào)。它是由古代的寒食節(jié)發(fā)展而來的。this is a story about the hanshi festival. 它發(fā)生在2000多年前春秋時(shí)代的晉國(guó)。
chong er was one of the princes but his father didn't like him. some bad people told his father that chong er was going to rebel. so he had to run away from the country.
逃亡途中，公子重耳和保護(hù)他的幾位大臣在山里迷了路。
in the mountains, they didn't get enough food. chong er almost starved to death.
為了救重耳，一名叫介子推的大臣偷偷從大腿上割了一塊肉讓他充饑
years later, chong er became the king of the jin kingdom. he wanted to thank jie and asked him to be his minister, but jie refused. 后來介子推在大火中不幸被燒死了。晉王重耳非常傷心，命令百姓在介子推去世那天不許生火做飯，只能吃冷食。這就是“寒食節(jié)”的由來。
從那時(shí)起人們都在這天祭奠祖先和紀(jì)念先烈，寒食節(jié)漸漸演變成了清明節(jié)。人們?cè)谶@一天會(huì)去掃墓，懷念家里去世的親人。所以英語里這一天也叫做“tomb-sweeping day”。

清明節(jié)是中國(guó)的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日。however, there are similar festivals in many other countries.
墨西哥人每年會(huì)過“亡靈節(jié)”。the day of the dead is on november 2. 傳說死去親人的亡靈在這一天會(huì)回家探親。candles are lit to help them find the way home. a lot of food and drink are prepared for them at home. 親戚們會(huì)聚在一起懷念逝去的親人。
朝鮮和韓國(guó)也有清明節(jié)。the koreans don't cook on this day. they only eat cold food. they also plant trees on this day.
