What is the definition of "happiness"? Is it material wealth filled with fancy cars, a dream house, extravagant furs and jewelry? Or is happiness simply having a roof over your head? Food in the fridge? Having a child? A pet? A swimming pool? A designer Gucci bag? Parents? Grandchildren? Love? Money? The perfect job? Winning the Lottery?
According to the American Heritage Dictionary,"happiness"is derived from the Middle English word hap—meaning" Luck." But does happiness really have anything to do with" luck"? We could assume that if you avoided a fatal traffic accident but got fired by coming late to work, would you be filled with "happiness?"? Is it luck or what do you make of it? Maybe,"happiness"is exactly defined by its indirect alias: happiness—perhaps, happiness is in fact defined by the fortune that we permit to happen.
Do you recall a time—let's say when you were about 5 years old—what defined happiness back then? Was it getting a puppy for Christmas? Or maybe, you were a child of divorce; and all you wanted was for Mom and Dad to get back together again? Then as you got older, you were hoping that someone would ask you to the prom that would've made your day, maybe your life for the moment. During college, good grades made you happy, but it was short"lived. Because in the real world, you had to look for a job, and competition was stark. It's an employer's world you thought. But then, you got the perfect job now you could be happy or could you?
Life requires more than just what we want. Inevitably, one must understand that to truly find" happiness", he must make his own happiness "happen". Sounds a bit redundant, but truthfully, there is no set guidelines that will bring one happiness. There is no "magic wand" we can wave to bring joy into our lives. Human nature thrives on the thrill of the chase. We dream and we hope for the next big Brea—it is the grand adventure of living.
We are hopeless creatures of comfort. We like having and accumulating things. Whether one admits to it or not, to a certain degree, we all try to keep up with" the Jones". We work so we can pay our rents, mortgages, credit card debts, school loans, car payments...the list goes on and on. And at some point, we realize, that aside from having most of what we want, we still aren't happy. Now since we've learned to adapt to new standards which we've created for ourselves, we find that we have less time, less patience, less sleep, which equates to more stress, more worry and more aggravation. So, is happiness honestly just comprised of" things"?
Sometimes, we virtually pay our lives for not only basic necessities, but for excessive items and services as well. We become so obsessed with finding happiness, that we lose sight of the fact that happiness is within—always. Certainly you've heard of individuals trying to "find themselves", or "rediscover themselves". The reason they are attempting these innovative approaches is because they are seeking inner happiness. But the point has been missed: Happiness is already there.
Disappointments and tragedies in life will come and go, but happiness never leaves you. The human's capacity to be resilient to redials is unfathomable. We can lose our jobs, but be grateful for our spouses. We can lose our homes to nature, but be thankful to alive.
Happiness is a perception of each individual. We are instinctively compelled to find fault in our lives. By human nature, we begin our "fault"find"ing" mission the moment we're capable of free"thinking. It is then, that we lose sense of self"worth and the bigger picture of vitality altogether. Stuck in the patterns of the happiness paradox, we simply cannot find where our happiness has gone.
It's not a matter of bargaining, it's not an issue of money or fame—instead, happiness is what you resolve to accept. If we live through optimis"tic hope; if we dare to dream; if we empower ourselves to fully live; then we have regained our sense of happiness, There is no in between. There is no other replacement. We only have one physical life to live—we have no choice but to make the most of it.
You have a dream, you got to protect it -
----after watching“ Pursuit of Happyness”
I finish watch this movie with a heavy heart. To be frank, "The
Pursuit of Happyness" is a simple inspirational movie. There is not pretty actors, no fancy pictures, no touching music…But it can also attract you deeply. Many scattered fragments of the movie again and again flashed in my mind.I think I am touched by the movie.
This film is about a poor father called Christ Gardner. Every day, Christ had to work hard from morning till night, but still could hardly make a living. He bought 50 bone scanners and wanted to sale these to make a change. But he failed, his wife left ,leaving him their five-year-old son, Christopher. With the failure of his business, Christ had no money to pay for the rent, so they were driven away from the flat. They slept in asylum, subway station ,public bathroom or anywhere as a temporary shelter. The destitution of life was absolutely depressing, but Christ never gave up and he still strongly believed that happiness would come one day if he worked hard enough today. With his great efforts, Christ won a six-month internship at Dean Witter, but there was no pay at all. So Christ had to work hard to make a living. However, Finally, Christ made it with his amazing willpower
It is said that this movie is inspired by a true story, and I want to say, this movie does inspire me a lot. What impressed me most is: when Chris saw a graffiti in the "happyness" spelling error, he said these
words—“There is no y in happiness, There is i.”. This line is extremely clever setting, it also aims to express through the entire film. Yes, we have to make happiness all by ourselves. Christ’s wife left him because of life pressure; Christ’s love to his son and Christ’s strong belief towards life. Through these, I know that it is not easy to be a good husband and a good Papa, since in reality, only love can make everything. And I also learn that one has to strongly believe in himself, no matter how difficult the situation is, but of course, hard-working is indispensable
“You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it.If you want something, go get it. Period.” No pains ,no gains. Everyone of us has to try our best to pursuit the happiness of ours.
Happiness means different things to different people. For example, some students believe that if they have much money or a large number of possessions, they will be happy. They believe that they will be able to do anything they want to if they have money. Some students think that they should be in good health, and enjoy whatever they like. Many students wish to have much wealth from their parents. In this way they don’t have to work hard, and they can have everything. I don’t agree with the above points. We can’t buy many important things with money, such as health, happiness and knowledge.
I value knowledge, which makes me happy, for I can do much for mankind with knowledge. Although different people value happiness differently, my “wealth” of happiness is in my study.
Habits, whether good or bad, are gradually formed。 When a person doesa certain thing again and again, he'll be obliged to do it in the same way by some unseen force。 Thus habit is formed。 Once a habit is formed, it is difficult and sometimes almost impossible to get rid of it。 It is。therefore very important that we should take care in the formation of habits。
Good habits have many advantages。 Going to bed early and getting up early makes us healthy。 Diligence helps to succeed。 Honesty helps:: win the respeet and trust of others。
If we form bad habits, such as rudeness, laziness, lying and stealing, we might be mined by them。
We ought to keep away from bad habits and try to acquire habits good for ourselves and others。 ( 133 words)
The dog is very sleepy, although it can not sleep at night, but during the day to sleep for several hour. As long as there is sunshine, the dog will lie there, with a warm air and sleep for a day. If there is no sunshine, the dog will move his body to the place where there is sunshine. If there is a little noise, it immediately ran away. If you go, he will open his mouth to bite you, if you're in the moment, ran quickly, it will run in the chase, no matter what, you don't want to get rid of it, unless the owner called the dog off, it will not come to you.

Do you mind being called a bad student?Of course not. So far as I know, everybody intends to be (become) a model student.
However,to be a model student is by no means an easy thing.
First,he must do his best to obtain knowledge. A man without sufficient knowledge will not succeed.
Secondly,he must remember to improve his health. Only a strong man can do great tasks.
Thirdly,he should receive moral education. If his conduct is not good,no one will consider making friends with him.
The argument is not well reasoned at all, and it might be wise for Walnut Grove's town council to turn to ABC Disposal. To begin with, despite EZ's weekly working frequency is as twice as ABC's, yet no sign has been displayed to prove that the "advantage" is necessary and fictional. For instance, if the town's garbage amount is under a particularly lower scale, which merely reaches the quantity of once disposal from ABC and hence the relatively once more from EZ is just a futile plethora. Also, even if twice disposal is applicable, it still deserves to doubt whether most citizens would like usual to choose EZ when taking into account the price of its service has been increased by $500 a month. Most citizens is highly possible to pick up a company that can offer best services while calling for relatively little money, for saving the extra $500, which to some extent is dispensable, I think, most citizens can cope with some easily handled trash with their own methods instead of singly relying on the disposal company. And another crucial point I cast great discretion on is whether the survey made last year is the persuasive reflection of the whole citizen's actual attitudes. The major deniable spot is the survey's sampling size and accordingly the ultimate respondents echoing the questions. Visualize the citizens of Walnut town are no less than 500 thousands, but ironically only the 5 hundred ones have the fortune to be asked the question and in the end the real available records making some senses are less than the 10% of the interviewers, namely the upper limit is only 50 people. Let alone whether these answers have the widely applicable representative, just judging about the number of respondents we can have justifiable rights to disregard the validity of this survey. Almost to forget to point out, that the freshly ordered 20 trucks of EZ cannot add another ponderous stake onto the balance, on the contrary, it might exacerbate the impressions of EZ in people's mind. Buying new trucks would ineluctably consume the company's property, and to take this disburse back the company must put some additional measures for compensation, thereby increasing the fees can lead the citizens to obtain the most strong conviction of loading the economic debt onto their shoulders, which finally ruins the tiny fantasy prone to the EZ. So the arguer's recommendation is just nothing but a cheap propaganda to throw to the vast residents a deceptive illusion. I believe, in general, any one having look through these vulgar tricks full of vague information and implicit causal claims like me would be likely to accept the town council's decision, after all it is more sensible than the arguer suggests.
