世界上所有宗教和文化普遍遵守的一條準(zhǔn)則就是尊敬老人。在我看來(lái)，老年人為我們的社會(huì)做出了貢獻(xiàn)，提供給我們智慧和指導(dǎo)，得到尊敬理所應(yīng)當(dāng)，受之無(wú)愧。
我們從自己的父母親和祖父母那兒繼承了這個(gè)世界。如果不是過(guò)去幾代人，包括我們當(dāng)中的老年人的辛勤工作，我們今天所享有的現(xiàn)代社會(huì)是完全不可能存在的。老年人努力工作，供養(yǎng)家人、社會(huì)以及年輕的后代。他們中有些人曾為我們今天慶祝的自由而戰(zhàn);有些人曾為給后代創(chuàng)造更好的生活和工作環(huán)境而奮斗。作為享受他們勞動(dòng)成果的后來(lái)人，我們理所當(dāng)然應(yīng)該尊重他們。

One of the principles universally advocated by all the religions and cultures of the world is respect for elderly. In my opinion, the contributions that seniors have made to our society, and the wisdom and guidance that they can offer us, makes such respect well-earned and deserved.
We have inherited this world from our parents and grandparents.
