　　Grandma is very hardworking every day, from morning till night, like a top pole that never breaks.

　　Every day, grandma is the first one in our family. No matter the cold and summer, the first thing grandma gets up in spring and autumn and winter is to put the chicken out, cut the big Chinese cabbage that you don't eat, and then mix some corn noodles, eat it for the chicken, and then cook it and send me to school.

　　Take the laundry for example. Every time you play the water in a small well, you need to put a full bucket of water in it and then take it to the side to wash clothes. Plus rinsing, it's better than a few buckets. Besides, a bucket of water is very heavy, and grandma is very old.

　　· Television is playing a very important part in our lives. But like other things, it has both advantages and disadvantages.

　　Television informs us about current events, the latest developments in science and politics, and offers an endless series of instructive and entertaining programs. It could be argued that the radio can also perform this service; but on television everything is much more vivid. Yet again there is a danger. We get addicted to it, so dependent on its moving pictures that it begins to dominate our lives.

　　There are many other arguments. The poor quality of programs is often criticized. But it is a great comfort to many lonely people indeed. I think we must realize that television in itself is neither good nor bad. It is the uses to which it is put that determine its value to society.

　　Last week we had a play competition. Because of some reasons, we had not decided the play two days before the competition. Our monitor called the actors and actresses who had been decided together. Then they think about every plot together. To my surprise, it seemed that everybody had his or her good idea. They gave up their weekend to practice the play. Finally our team won good marks and were given the opportunity to participate in the final competition.
