Wen capacity as Professor of Mathematics at Fudan UniversityWe'm writing to recommend Mr. WangGesintosyour PhD program in Computer Science. We have known Mr. Wang since his sophomore year of collegeand have acted as his thesis advisormentor. Wen my experiencehe is a gifteddiligent studentand an admirably hard worker. Wang is an impressive student because he has been forced to overcome the significant challenge of a serious illness during his freshman year. When We first met Wang in my Discrete Math classhe did not appear to be anything special to me. While his exam scores were goodthey were not as high as We would now expect of him. What We didn't know then was that due to his illnessWang was attempting to take all of the difficult early mathematics courses at one timeincluding Discrete MathematicsAdvanced MathematicsLinear Algebraand Possibilities. While most students found preparing for just one set of these exams difficultWang was overwhelmed by four of them. But in the endhe achieved an impressive score on the final examwhich made me conscious of his unusual determination he demonstrates when confronting difficult challenges. Mr. WangWe have often talked about a variety of mathematicscomputer science conceptsproblems. During these discussionsWe always found him to be delightfully intelligent. Not only does he quickly understand the conceptsproblems presented to himhe is able to analyze these problemspresent solutions. But perhaps most important is that Wang's thinking is intensely rigorous. When looking at any questionhe carefully scrutinizes itif he finds any uncertain issue he clears them up immediately. We believe this kind of thought is essential to become an excellent computer programmer. Serving as his thesis advisorWe had a first-hand opportunity to observe the way in which Wang's mind works. Wen his senor thesisMr. Wang mainly discussed two challenging questions in regards to″ANN″。 Wen our books in Chinaknowledge of ANNits uses are very rare. Few people in China have studied this topicconsequentlythe materials that are available on ANN are limited. Working on this difficult projectnot only did Mr. Wang rise to the challengebut he went abovebeyond the call of duty to analyze his secondary sourcestest them for accuracy in practice. Wen this wayhe found mistakes in the book that we use. His diligencehard work made me extremely proud of him.

Reference Letter
Dear Admission Officer,As Miss##### course instructor in Computer Information Networks, Computer Application System and Digital Library therefore, I take it my pleasure to present you this letter furnishing my commendation on her. Miss Zhang preliminarily attested to her excellence in information retrieval, analysis, integration and computer application in October, , when she assisted me in the network information survey of ‘The Application Status of Mobile Library in China’. As far as I know, she spent a whole week collecting data of mobile library application status of 23 provinces, 4 direct-controlled municipalities, 2 special administrative regions and 5 autonomous regions across the country through the Internet and listed relevant information according to the theory of balanced score card. In her later paper ‘The Practical Significance of Consociation of Traditional Digital Library and Mobile Library—Exemplified by the TWIMS System of Tsinghua University’ published on Library and Information Service, comparison was made from angles of both time and space. Her discourse about the insufficiency in mobile library development in China as well as corresponding solutions was quite incisive and impressive. Having taught Miss Zhang for over two years, I get a good understanding of her independent research ability, innovative ideas and rigorous academic attitude. In the meantime, she showed her particularly amicable personality and cheerful disposition in conducting herself with others. As an excellent student assembled of all the ingredients to further achievements in information studies, Miss Zhang has my strong recommendation. And I am confident of her candidature for your program. Much appreciation for your favorable consideration of her application. Sincerely yours,Mr. #####

Dear Sir,It is my pleasure to recommend Mr. Fu-ping Wang for his application to graduate studies in your school. Mr. Wang has been my research assistant of the National Science Council’s project "The United States and the United Nations’ Financial Crisis: The Role of U.S. Congress" since September 1997. His major responsibilities include information collecting, analyzing and translating. He is an enthusiastic and progressive young man with extremely high potentiality. Mr. Wang is not only quick at learning and good at solving difficult problems, but also with a logical mind that enables him to effectively analyze difficulties. All the work handed to him was completed satisfactorily. Actually, he is so reliable that I assign him with heavy responsibilities. With his help, I have been able to spend more time in writing the research paper. I really consider myself very fortunate to have such a capable assistant. I am certain his diligence, coupled with a good competence and pleasant personality, will assure him of academic achievements in his future academic pursuits. I strongly recommend his admission without any reservation.
Sincerely yours,
Chung Wei-kuo
